The Nintendo DS (also called DS-Lite or DSLite) is a groundbreaking handheld gaming console that continues to be our favorite handheld ever. “DS” means “Double Screen”- which is what the DS has, and what sets it apart from all the others.
The top screen of the DS is where the game “happens” (where you watch it), and the bottom screen is a touch screen. And that’s what was so groundbreaking about the Nintendo DS: it was the first gaming console to feature a touch screen, giving thousands of gamers around the world the ability to use a stylus (or, in a pinch, their fingers) instead of or in conjunction with the usual buttons.
